WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ISSUE A KOREAN VISA AND ENTRY PURPOSE?

SPECIFIC DOCUMENTS REQUIREMENT

Ordinary Tourist (C-3-9)

A person who plans to visit Korea on the purpose of travel for holidays or leisure.

Provide proof of financial means (bank statements, salary slips) enough to cover the journey

Business Visitor (General) (C-3-4)

This visa is specifically for short-term business activities like attending meetings, conferences, or conducting business negotiations, market research, consultation, signing a contract, or small-scale international trading or an APEC card holder visiting Korea without a visa.

You are restricted in the type of business activities you can undertake. You cannot engage in any activities that would require a different visa category, such as employment, investment, or professional practice.

Business Visitor (Sponsored) (C-3-6)

A person who has been invited by a company or an organization designated by the Minister of Justice of ROK as a preferential company.

Must have an official invitation from a Korean entity supporting their visit and business activities.

Short term General (C-3-1)

Tourism: This is the most common use, ideal for sightseeing, cultural experiences, and leisure activities.

Visiting family or friends: Connect with loved ones residing in Korea.

Short-term courses: Participate in language programs, workshops, or seminars (not paid work or professional training).

Attending conferences or events: Participate in non-paid conferences, competitions, or similar activities as a guest, not an organizer or performer.

Submit documents to prove the intended purpose.

Steps to process Korean Visa application in Vietnam

The process of applying for a Korean Visa in Vietnam

Step 1

DETERMINATION OF VISA TYPE

Determining the type of visa you want to apply for will save time for researching and preparing documents.

PREPARING DOCUMENTS

Preparing documents as required by each type of visa (business/ tourist) as checklist below.

MAKiNG AN APPOINTMENT

To apply at the Korean Visa Application Center, you must make an appointment and go to the application center according to the scheduled appointment.

APPLYING KOREA VISA

When you submit your application, you need to bring:

• Full profile according to checklist
• Appointment form
• Your phone will have a message notifying you of your appointment from the center. The center may call to check the phone number. Therefore, you must register your own phone number. If this is not the case, the center will not accept applications.

You can apply at the nearest center and match your household registration:

• KVAC in Hanoi: for household registration holders from Da Nang back to the North
• KVAC in Ho Chi Minh City: for household registration holders from Quang Nam back to the southern area
• Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Da Nang for holders of household registration in Da Nang, Hue, Quan Nam, Quang Ngai

Note: Only those who are named in the same household registration book can submit the Korea visa application together with 01 application form.

GETTING KOREA VISA RESULTS

• ​The time to return Korean visa results is usually 11-16 working days. You can look up the status of your Korean visa application directly through the website of the Korean consulate office (KVAC). To do this, go to the "Check Application Status" section and select the "Check Application Status and Print" section. Here, you need to fill in the necessary information to look up the results.

• On the day of your appointment to return your results, the Center will notify you by SMS. If you receive a message, you can go to the center to collect your passport according to the passport return time stipulated by each center.
• In case of re-applying to receive your passport and visa by post, you can receive it via VNPOST after 1-3 days.
• Note: The date indicated on receipt is only the expected date. You only go to the Results Center after you have received the SMS visa result message.

THE REQUIREMENTS FOR KOREAN TOURIST VISA

► Proofs of Employment

1. If you have your own business/stock holder:

• Business registration license
• Receipt of tax payment to the State budget for the last 3 months
• Bank statements of the company’s account for the last 3 months

2. If you are employees:

• Employee confirmation or Labor Contract
• Payslip for the last 3 months
• Social insurance (download VssID app, capture information on social insurance participation process)

3. If you are students:

• Student ID card
• Student confirmation letter (not required if traveling during summer break)

4. If you are retirees

• Retirement card
• Bank account statements for pension deposits for the last 6 months

► Proofs of Finance

1. Bank saving passbook (minimum money is 5000 USD)
2. Bank account statements for the last 3 months
3. Notarized copies of your real estate registration (if any)

THE REQUIREMENTS FOR KOREAN BUSINESS VISA

► Documents for Invitation from a Partner in South Korea

1. Original invitation letter, stamped by the company (in English or Korean, clearly stating details of both the inviting and invited parties)
2. Original letter of guarantee, stamped by the company - Maximum guarantee period is 4 years; visitors who have previously entered OECD* countries do not need to provide a letter of guarantee
3. Certificate of Business Registration - downloadable from the South Korean tax office's website within the last 3 months of submitting the application
4. Certificate of Tax Payment - downloadable from the South Korean tax office's website within the last 3 months of submitting the application
5. Confirmation of legal entity seal or seal certificate (applicable only for private companies) - Issued within the last 3 months of submitting the application
6. Detailed itinerary
7. Commercial purpose documents: Sales contracts, documents proving business cooperation promotion, import-export declarations, LC copies, documents proving import-export activities, emails, quotations, etc.

► Proofs of Employment in Vietnam

1. Receipt of tax payment to the State budget for the last 3 months.
2. Commercial purpose documents between the 2 countries:
3. Transaction/sales/purchase agreements or contracts with the South Korean company.
4. Invoices, payment receipts, UNC (Uniform Commercial Code) transactions with the South Korean company.
5. If you have your own business/stock holder:

• Notarized copy of business registration
• Nearest three-month of VAT tax reports.
• Company seal imprint on the business field registration in Vietnamese and English on the electronic information portal for business registration

        6. If you are employees:

• Notarized copy of the company's business registration certificate
• Notarized copy of the labor contract
• Notarized copy of the appointment decision (if applicable)
• Certified copy of the work assignment decision with the company's signature and seal confirmation
• Screenshot of the VSSID application information page and the social insurance participation process

THE REQUIREMENTS APPLIED FOR ALL APPLICANTS

1. A passport (with expiry date more than 6 months, have at least 3 blank pages for stamping and visa sticking)
2. Three 3.5x4.5cm photos (white background, high quality)
3. Notarized copy of National Identify card
4. Notarized copy Marital certificate – if any (only for tourist purpose)
5. Notarized copy of Work Permit – for foreigner working in VNNotarized copy of Temporary Residence Card – for foreigner working and living in VN

HOW LONG TO GET KOREA TOURIST/ BUSINESS VISA IN VIETNAM

► Tourist Visa:

• Self-submission: 18 working days from the date the Embassy/Consulate receives the application.
• Designated travel agency: 7 working days.

► Business Visa: 14 working days, including the day of document submission (processing time excludes weekends and holidays).

KOREA VISA VALIDITY

• Single-entry: Valid for 3 months after issuance, allowing a maximum stay of 90 days.
• Double-entry: Valid for 6 months after issuance, allowing two entries with a maximum stay of 90 days per entry.
• Multiple-entry: Valid for 1, 3, 5 or 10 years after issuance, allowing multiple entries with a maximum stay of 90 days per entry (specific validity depends on approval).
