VIETNAM INVESTOR VISA 2024 - TYPE DT
1. Purpose of Vietnam investor visa
Vietnam Investor Visa is granted for foreign investors entering to set up the company or invest in Vietnamese companies.
2. Process to get Vietnam investor visa
The process for Vietnam Investor Visa must go through 03 steps:
The first step: Applying and obtaining a short term investment/ business visa Approval Letter (Pre-Visa) – 3 month single/ multiple entry sponsored by a company in Vietnam, issued by the Immigration Department in advance;
The second step: Foreign investor obtains the investment visa by themselves at the Vietnam’s international airports; Vietnamese Embassies/ Consulates overseas; or Vietnam’s international border crossings.
The third step: Collecting the supporting documents and applying for the long term Investment Visa or Temporary Residence Card (TRC), the validity is from 13 months to up 10 years considered and decided by the Vietnam Immigration Authority.
Please note that this is just the process of applying investor visa for those who have satisfied all the requirements. Some of these requirements can only be obtained in Vietnam. Therefore, the new foreign investors in Viet Nam, they should obtain a Business Visa (DN1/ DN2) to come to Vietnam first, and then switch the business visa to the Investment Visa later when they have enough supporting documents.
HIGHLIGHTS OF VIETNAM INVESTOR VISA UNDER THE NEW LAW
Under existing law, foreign individuals are only able to receive investor visa or Temporary Residence Card where they personally invest into a Vietnamese company. In contrast, under the new laws, organization/ corporate investors will be able to nominate a foreign individual to represent the organization/corporate investor, and that individual will be able to grant long term investor visa or Temporary Resident Card (TRC) for periods up to 10 years as the representative of that corporate investor.

VALIDITY OF VIETNAM INVESTOR VISA 2024
Before, the validity of Vietnam Investor Visa can be up to 5 years. Now under the change of the New Immigration Law taking effect on July 1st 2020, validity of Vietnam investor visa is based on their visa types and the entry purpose and qualifications.
