PROCESS TO GET VIETNAM INVESTMENT VISA FOR FOREIGN INVESTORS

The process of applying investment visa in Vietnam for those who have satisfied all the requirements. Some of these requirements can only be obtained in Vietnam. Therefore, the new foreign investors in Viet Nam, they should obtain a Business Visa (DN1/ DN2) to come to Vietnam first, and then switch the business visa to the Investment Visa later when they have enough supporting documents.

The process for Vietnam Investment Visa must go through 03 steps:

Step 1	Foreign individuals and organization investors are applying for an Investment Registration Certificate & Enterprise Registration Certificate – One of the most important documents for investment purpose in Vietnam	The time varies and It may takes from 2 to 3 months

Step 3	Collecting the supporting documents and applying for the long term Investment Visa or Temporary Residence Card (TRC), the validity is from 13 months to up 10 years considered and decided by the Vietnam Immigration Authority.	The investment visa can be issued from 7 to 10 working days

HIGHLIGHTS OF VIETNAM INVESTOR VISA UNDER THE NEW LAW

Before, the Investment Visa in Vietnam for Foreign Investor was only marked as ĐT Visa, from July 1^st 2020 it will be divided into 4 types: ĐT1; ĐT2; ĐT3 and ĐT4 which depend on the value of their contributed investment. Their validity and investor visa term has also changed.
Under existing law, foreign individuals are only able to receive investor visa or Temporary Residence Card (Long Term Visa) where they personally invest into a Vietnamese company. In contrast, under the new laws, organization/ corporate investors will be able to nominate a foreign individual to represent the organization/corporate investor, and that foreign individual will be able to grant long term investor visa or Temporary Resident Card (TRC) for periods up to 10 years as the representative of that corporate investor.

VALIDITY OF VIETNAM INVESTMENT VISA 2024

Before, the validity of Vietnam Investment Visa for foreign investors can be up to 5 years. Now under the change of the New Immigration Law taking effect on July 1^st 2020, duration of investor visa in Vietnam is based on their visa types and the entry purpose and qualifications. The investment visas (DT1, DT2, DT3 and DT4 visa) are for foreign investors mentioned in the Enterprise Registration Certificate and the Investment Registration Certificate;
