IMPORTANT NOTES WHEN APPLYING FOR A FRANCE VISA

  • Applicants for a French visa must legally reside in Vietnam.
  • France must be the main destination on the applicant's itinerary.
  • The application can be submitted as early as 3 months and no later than 3 weeks before the planned departure date. The average processing time for a French visa is 3-4 weeks.
  • Normally, applicants have to provide biometric data during the application process, including fingerprints from 10 fingers and a photo. Only the following cases are excluded:
    + Children under 12 years old;
    + The applicant is unable to provide fingerprints (lost a finger, hand, or arm). However, if the applicant can produce even one fingerprint, providing biometric data is still required. In case temporary fingerprints cannot be provided (such as due to injury and currently being bandaged for treatment), customers still need to present on the submission day.
    + The applicant holds a short-term Schengen visa for 59 months.
  • A France visa application is considered based on the documentation you submitted. Additional documentation is not requested at the application counter. If a document is missing from your application, it indicates that you are unable or unwilling to submit it.
  • Incomplete documents may result in a decision to reject a French visa. However, providing all necessary documents does not guarantee a visa will be granted.
  • When necessary, the applicant may be invited for a further interview and asked to present more documents.
  • All documents in Vietnamese must be accompanied by a valid translation (with a notarized stamp from the judicial department) into French or English.
  • Documents submitted must be accompanied by photocopies. The copy will be duly signed upon presentation of the original. The visa office only retains copies; the originals are immediately returned to the applicant. Copies must be printed on A4 paper. Fax or email documents are not accepted.
  • Applicants have to choose the type of French visa that is appropriate for their purposes and present all the required documents. The visa office will then review the application and make a decision to grant or reject a visa based on the information contained in the applicant's application.
  • Applicants will submit their applications directly to one of the city's two visa-receiving centers, which have been authorized by the French Embassy or Consulate: Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi. Applicants must schedule an appointment, present the application in person, and have their fingerprints taken in accordance with regulations. Please be aware that in order to choose the suitable French visa application reception center in accordance with embassy requirements, applicants must first determine whether they live in a permanent or temporary region.
