Steps for Updating TRC

Conditions

Renew passport at Embassy or Consulate of your country in Vietnam

Step 1: Update passport number on Work Permit (only for LD Visa/TRC).

Step 2: Update passport number on TRC.

Update WP and TRC as soon as posible after you change your passport. Since the old passport will no longer be valid after it is replaced, you cannot depart without updating your TRC to the new passport

Enter Vietnam with old passport, new passport, and TRC.

STEP

GUIDANCE FOR EACH STEP

Step 1: Prepare documents

Prepare neccessary documents and scan them.

Step 2: Submit the application

Submit the online application and upload the scanned files in step 1 via the Public Security Service portal: https://dichvucong.bocongan.gov.vn/ by sponsor company account. After successfully submitting the application, the portal will send an email containing a code and payment link. Please check and proceed with the payment of the government fee.

Step 3: Submit the documents at the Immigration Office

After finishing online submission and paying fee, you need to submit your application in papers at the Immigration Office of the province/city police where the foreigner is registered for temporary residence

Step 4: Tracking the application online

You can use the code in step 2 to check the status and find out when you will receive the result

Step 5: Getting result

When the online portal display that your application has results, normally after 5 to 7 working days, you can come to the Immigration Office and get the passport with TRC.
