Vietnam Government has authorized 5-year visa exemption for foreign nationals who have Vietnamese family members and regularly travel to Vietnam for visiting relatives but don’t want to apply for visa each time. The visa exemption is valid for 5 years with multiple entries and must be 6 month shorter than the validity of the current valid passport. With this 5-year visa exemption, you can maximally stay 06 months per entry. After 06 months, you need to exit Vietnam and enter again or apply for visa extension for continuously staying in the country. if holders of 5-year visa exemptions done in Vietnam cannot use it to exit Vietnam immediately. They must exit with the Vietnam visa which they used to enter Vietnam. Then, the next time you enter with 5-year Vietnam visa exemption, you are able to use it to exit the country.

According to the Immigration Department of Vietnam, passport holders of all countries are allowed to enter Vietnam via Visa on Arrival (VOA). In this case, you can apply for Tourist/ Business Approval Letter beforehand, then have Vietnam visa stamp on your passport at any Vietnam International Airport. The applicants must possess with passport at least 06-month validity to apply for the Approval letter. The stamping fee is various depending on type of visa (Tourist or Business) and visa’s validity (1 month/ 3 months/ 6 months/ 1 year with single/multiple entry).

Based on the Visa Policy of Vietnam, all visitors to Vietnam must provide a valid passport and an approval letter to stamp visa at Vietnam International Airports or Vietnamese Embassies/ Consulates in their countries except they are eligible for visa exemption. Vietnam has over a dozen international overland border crossings. These allow overland travel to Cambodia via five crossings, Laos via six crossings and China at least two crossings. In order to obtain the Vietnam visa at the borders you must have a original approval letter. You can also arrive by air at Hanoi, Saigon and Da Nang, Phu Quoc and Cam Ranh international airports to obtain the Vietnam Visa On Arrival (Pre-Arranged Visa). Unless you come from one of the visa-exempting countries and just you must hold a passport valid for six months from your intended arrival date, and must have at least one blank visa page;

All foreigners coming to Vietnam for short-term business, meeting or working purpose must apply for a business visa under sponsored by a registered company in Vietnam. You can apply for visas allowing you to stay for a period of 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year, all with single/multiple entry options. Like Tourist visa, you can pick up the business visa either through visa on arrival at Vietnam’s international airports or through Vietnamese Embassy/Consulate in your countries. If you wish to extend your stay without having to leave the country, you can do so by applying for a visa extension or renewal. However, there are not all nationalities are eligible to apply for a visa extension/renewal, and the requirements change accordingly as well.
